How to use the online alarm clock
Handing the bar over at 1:38 am means telling the next person exactly what still needs closing down after the last customer has gone. Set this alarm as the point for that handover, leaving enough room to check the till, note any unfinished cleaning and deal with the final glasses before 2:00 am.
Your closing duties may continue away from the screen, so keep the alarm volume high enough to carry across the room and test that sound is permitted before returning to work. If the screen falls asleep before 1:38 am, the alarm may never sound, leaving the bar handover without its prompt. Use a separate phone alarm as a fallback when missing the time could delay locking up or the journey home.
As the outgoing shift finishes, notice which sounds are disappearing and which remain: music may be off, customers have left, but a glass washer, extractor fan or staff conversation can still mask a quiet alert. Place the alarm near the handover point rather than beside noisy equipment. At this hour, a clear vibration on a hard surface can add a useful cue without filling an otherwise quiet bar with an unnecessarily harsh tone.
Common questions
Does the alarm still work if I close the tab?
No. Everything runs inside this page, so closing the tab — or quitting the browser altogether — ends the countdown there and then. Leaving it open in the background is all it asks, and switching to another tab makes no difference.
What happens if my laptop goes to sleep before 1:38 am?
The tab sleeps along with it and the alarm will not sound on time, if at all. If you are relying on it, change the power settings so the machine stays awake, or keep a phone alarm running as well.
Do I need an account or an app?
Neither. Choose a time and a sound, press Start, and it runs in this browser tab. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is registered, and closing the page leaves nothing behind on the device.
Can I change the sound?
Yes, there is a short list of tones to pick from before you press Start. Softer sounds are easy to sleep through, so a firmer bell tends to be the safer choice for anything early in the morning.
