How to use the online alarm clock

Halfway through the washing-up, you need to break off at 10:25 pm and put the milk bottles by the door before the thought slips away. An alarm at this exact time separates the doorstep job from the rest of the evening, while still leaving a comfortable stretch before 11:00 pm for finishing the dishes and settling the kitchen.

For milk bottles, the alarm only helps if the browser remains open and the phone, tablet or computer stays awake enough to run it. Closing the browser or letting the device sleep may mean no sound plays, so the bottles could remain indoors overnight. The alarm page can stay visible while you continue what you were doing, with the sound level checked beforehand against the programme, conversation or kitchen noise already in the room.

The short trip from kitchen to doorstep can feel much louder late in the evening than it would earlier. By 10:25 pm, traffic may have thinned and neighbouring homes may be quieter, making clinking glass, a stiff latch or a closing door more noticeable. Keeping the bottles together in a carrier and holding the door as it shuts reduces the sudden noise without turning a small evening task into a fussy routine.

Common questions

Does the alarm still work if I close the tab?

No. Everything runs inside this page, so closing the tab — or quitting the browser altogether — ends the countdown there and then. Leaving it open in the background is all it asks, and switching to another tab makes no difference.

What happens if my laptop goes to sleep before 10:25 pm?

The tab sleeps along with it and the alarm will not sound on time, if at all. If you are relying on it, change the power settings so the machine stays awake, or keep a phone alarm running as well.

Do I need an account or an app?

Neither. Choose a time and a sound, press Start, and it runs in this browser tab. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is registered, and closing the page leaves nothing behind on the device.

Can I change the sound?

Yes, there is a short list of tones to pick from before you press Start. Softer sounds are easy to sleep through, so a firmer bell tends to be the safer choice for anything early in the morning.
