How to use the online alarm clock

Waking at 12:30 pm leaves the afternoon school run as the first job of your day, especially when you need to collect your child from the school’s nursery class. The alarm can mark the moment to get up, check the collection time and gather anything needed at the gate. By 1:00 pm, you can be dressed and moving rather than still trying to shake off sleep.

Your collection reminder needs to be clearly audible over a fan, television or household activity. Set the volume before relying on it, then use the preview or test sound if available so you know how the alert carries from where the phone will sit. Keep the alarm running and the phone awake; otherwise the signal for collecting your child will not sound. A second reminder on another clock can cover an especially time-sensitive pickup.

Heading out around midday can mean stepping from an air-conditioned room into noticeably warmer air. Put shoes, keys and a light drink beside the exit before resting, so there is no search through a cool house after the alarm. Setting the air conditioning a little less cold shortly before leaving can also make the change outdoors feel less abrupt on the walk to school.

Common questions

Does the alarm still work if I close the tab?

No. Everything runs inside this page, so closing the tab — or quitting the browser altogether — ends the countdown there and then. Leaving it open in the background is all it asks, and switching to another tab makes no difference.

What happens if my laptop goes to sleep before 12:30 pm?

The tab sleeps along with it and the alarm will not sound on time, if at all. If you are relying on it, change the power settings so the machine stays awake, or keep a phone alarm running as well.

Do I need an account or an app?

Neither. Choose a time and a sound, press Start, and it runs in this browser tab. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is registered, and closing the page leaves nothing behind on the device.

Can I change the sound?

Yes, there is a short list of tones to pick from before you press Start. Softer sounds are easy to sleep through, so a firmer bell tends to be the safer choice for anything early in the morning.
