How to use the online alarm clock
You have just woken at 4:01 am, with the van still to prepare for the morning milk round. Set the alarm for the point when you need to leave the kitchen and begin checking crates, paperwork and keys. With 5:00 am approaching, there is enough time to get dressed and have a drink without letting a quiet pause turn into an accidental lie-in.
While getting ready for the milk round, check where the alarm sound will actually play. Headphones left connected can receive the alert without you noticing, especially if they are in a coat pocket or beside the bed. Disconnect them or test the alarm at a low level through the intended speaker. Keep another alarm available as well: if the browser is no longer running when the computer goes to sleep, the van preparation may begin late because this alarm will not sound.
Before going out to the van, pause near the door and listen to the surroundings. At this hour, indoor hums can mask a soft alarm, while outside noise may grow as delivery vehicles and early traffic appear. Set a clear volume while the house is still quiet, then place the speaker where closing doors, a running tap or the van engine will not drown it out.
Common questions
Does the alarm still work if I close the tab?
No. Everything runs inside this page, so closing the tab — or quitting the browser altogether — ends the countdown there and then. Leaving it open in the background is all it asks, and switching to another tab makes no difference.
What happens if my laptop goes to sleep before 4:01 am?
The tab sleeps along with it and the alarm will not sound on time, if at all. If you are relying on it, change the power settings so the machine stays awake, or keep a phone alarm running as well.
Do I need an account or an app?
Neither. Choose a time and a sound, press Start, and it runs in this browser tab. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is registered, and closing the page leaves nothing behind on the device.
Can I change the sound?
Yes, there is a short list of tones to pick from before you press Start. Softer sounds are easy to sleep through, so a firmer bell tends to be the safer choice for anything early in the morning.
