How to use the online alarm clock
While you watch the clock for the moment to leave for your child’s cricket training, set the alarm for 4:24 pm so the afternoon does not quietly run away from you. It gives you a clear cue to gather the kit, water bottle and anything needed for the journey. There are 36 minutes until 5:00 pm, enough time to finish a small task without losing sight of departure.
Keep this alarm page open while you wait, and leave the computer, tablet or phone awake with the sound turned up to a level you will notice. Closing the tab or browser means the alarm cannot alert you when it is time for cricket training; it also will not sound if the device has gone to sleep. A quick sound check beforehand helps confirm that the volume is audible above conversation, television or household noise.
Before your child heads outside at this point in the afternoon, check how humid the air feels rather than judging conditions from the temperature alone. Damp, heavy air can make cricket clothing and protective gear feel less comfortable, while a breezy spell may feel cooler beside an exposed pitch. Pack a light extra layer if conditions are changeable, and allow a moment to air the kit after the session instead of leaving it closed in the bag.
Common questions
Do I need an account or an app?
Neither. Choose a time and a sound, press Start, and it runs in this browser tab. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is registered, and closing the page leaves nothing behind on the device.
Can I change the sound?
Yes, there is a short list of tones to pick from before you press Start. Softer sounds are easy to sleep through, so a firmer bell tends to be the safer choice for anything early in the morning.
Will it still be right when the clocks change?
Yes. It reads your device's local clock, so the move between GMT and BST at the end of March and October is picked up automatically, as long as the computer's date, time and time zone are set correctly.
Can I use this on a phone?
It works in a mobile browser, but phones lock the screen and suspend background tabs far more readily than a laptop does, which can stop the alarm sounding. For anything important, a desktop or a plugged-in laptop is the steadier option.
