How to use the online alarm clock
While preparing ahead for your tour of the Houses of Parliament, set the alarm for 10:35 am so there is time to gather your ticket, photo ID and travel details. That leaves a useful margin before 11:00 am for checking the entrance named on your booking and allowing for security when you arrive.
Your Parliament visit depends on this reminder being able to sound, so leave the browser running and keep your phone or computer awake until 10:35 am. Closing the page or browser ends the alarm, while a sleeping device may prevent it sounding; either could leave you without the cue to start getting ready. Keep the volume audible, and check that silent mode or connected headphones will not hide the alert.
If 10:35 am is meant to end a late morning lie-in before the tour, decide now whether any sleep after the alarm would still leave enough time to dress and travel without rushing. Place the phone beyond easy reach, with your ticket and ID nearby, so getting up leads naturally into the next task. A second ordinary alarm a few minutes later can cover the temptation to drift off again.
Common questions
Does the alarm still work if I close the tab?
No. Everything runs inside this page, so closing the tab — or quitting the browser altogether — ends the countdown there and then. Leaving it open in the background is all it asks, and switching to another tab makes no difference.
What happens if my laptop goes to sleep before 10:35 am?
The tab sleeps along with it and the alarm will not sound on time, if at all. If you are relying on it, change the power settings so the machine stays awake, or keep a phone alarm running as well.
Do I need an account or an app?
Neither. Choose a time and a sound, press Start, and it runs in this browser tab. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is registered, and closing the page leaves nothing behind on the device.
Can I change the sound?
Yes, there is a short list of tones to pick from before you press Start. Softer sounds are easy to sleep through, so a firmer bell tends to be the safer choice for anything early in the morning.
