How to use the online alarm clock
Ten in the morning is when the large supermarkets open on a Sunday. Sunday trading law in England and Wales limits shops over a certain size to six hours of trading, so ten until four is the usual pattern, with browsing allowed for half an hour before the tills go live. Anyone who has stood outside a locked shop at half past nine on a Sunday has met that rule the hard way.
It is also the hour of the mid-morning meeting, the point at which the urgent post-arrival work has been dealt with and there is time to talk. Ticket sales and public releases often go live on the hour, which makes a precise alarm worth having when a popular event goes on general sale.
