How to use the online alarm clock
Waking at 3:50 pm gives you a moment to get your bearings before taking your child to Brownies. The alarm marks the point to sit up, check what still needs packing and start getting ready, rather than rushing immediately. With 4:00 pm approaching, there is enough time to gather the uniform, water bottle and anything needed for the session.
Your Brownies departure may happen amid conversation, television or activity elsewhere in the house, so set the alarm volume high enough to stand apart from that background noise. A quick sound check can show whether the signal is clear from where you are resting. Keep the browser active and the phone awake: otherwise the alarm may not sound, leaving the Brownies session without its intended reminder.
As your child’s Brownies time draws closer during the afternoon, notice how the surroundings may become louder: school traffic picks up, other family members return and household activity increases. Put the phone nearby on a firm surface instead of under bedding, where its sound can be muffled. If the room is already busy, reduce one competing sound before settling down, so the 3:50 pm signal remains distinct when it plays.
Common questions
Does the alarm still work if I close the tab?
No. Everything runs inside this page, so closing the tab — or quitting the browser altogether — ends the countdown there and then. Leaving it open in the background is all it asks, and switching to another tab makes no difference.
What happens if my laptop goes to sleep before 3:50 pm?
The tab sleeps along with it and the alarm will not sound on time, if at all. If you are relying on it, change the power settings so the machine stays awake, or keep a phone alarm running as well.
Do I need an account or an app?
Neither. Choose a time and a sound, press Start, and it runs in this browser tab. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is registered, and closing the page leaves nothing behind on the device.
Can I change the sound?
Yes, there is a short list of tones to pick from before you press Start. Softer sounds are easy to sleep through, so a firmer bell tends to be the safer choice for anything early in the morning.
