How to use the online alarm clock
As you finish what you are doing and head outside, set the alarm for 6:27 am so you remember to move the car from the overnight parking zone. That leaves a clear point in the morning for dealing with the vehicle and getting on with the rest of your plans before 7:00 am.
Your attention may already be on keys, shoes and the route back to the car, so check that the alarm volume is high enough to cut through a radio, kettle or conversation. Use the phone’s volume control as well as the setting shown here, then play a quick test if you are unsure. Keep this page open and the phone awake: otherwise the alarm for moving the car will not sound, and a quiet or missed signal could leave the vehicle where it is.
Heading out at 6:27 am can mean stepping from a bright kitchen or hallway into a street that is still dim. Put a small torch by the keys, or switch on the phone light before leaving the doorway, so the parking signs and kerb markings are easier to see. Keeping the screen brightness moderate also helps you read what is around the car without a sudden glare obscuring the darker pavement.
Common questions
Do I need an account or an app?
Neither. Choose a time and a sound, press Start, and it runs in this browser tab. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is registered, and closing the page leaves nothing behind on the device.
Can I change the sound?
Yes, there is a short list of tones to pick from before you press Start. Softer sounds are easy to sleep through, so a firmer bell tends to be the safer choice for anything early in the morning.
Will it still be right when the clocks change?
Yes. It reads your device's local clock, so the move between GMT and BST at the end of March and October is picked up automatically, as long as the computer's date, time and time zone are set correctly.
Can I use this on a phone?
It works in a mobile browser, but phones lock the screen and suspend background tabs far more readily than a laptop does, which can stop the alarm sounding. For anything important, a desktop or a plugged-in laptop is the steadier option.
