2030 opens on a Tuesday, the least generous arrangement on offer: New Year's Day sits in the middle of the working week, and Scotland's 2 January follows on the Wednesday, so neither produces a long weekend anywhere. The self-assessment deadline on 31 January is a Thursday. February then passes without a Pancake Day at all, because Easter is late enough to push Shrove Tuesday out to 5 March.

March closes with two events on one Sunday. The clocks go forward on 31 March, the latest date the change can take, and Mothering Sunday falls on that same date. St Patrick's Day on 17 March is a Sunday, so Northern Ireland's holiday moves to Monday the 18th. Easter sits clear of the tax year turnover this time: the old year ends on Friday 5 April, the new one opens on Saturday 6 April, and Good Friday does not arrive until the 19th.

The May holidays fall on the 6th and the 27th, with half term around the later one and the exam season running through the weeks between. Scotland's summer bank holiday is 5 August and the late summer holiday elsewhere is 26 August. Northern Ireland's 12 July lands on a Friday and carries a long weekend with it. The end of the year is the thinnest of these five. The clocks go back on 27 October, Halloween is a Thursday, Bonfire Night a Tuesday, and Remembrance Sunday falls on 10 November with Armistice Day on the Monday after it. St Andrew's Day on 30 November is a Saturday, so Scotland takes that holiday on Monday 2 December. Christmas Day falls on a Wednesday and Boxing Day on a Thursday, cutting the final week in half without touching a weekend at either end.
