How to use the online alarm clock

As you hand your morning duties over to someone else, set the alarm for 10:27 am so the changeover does not distract you from leaving for your GP appointment. That gives you a clear cue to collect your keys, check the surgery address and allow for local traffic or a late bus. If your appointment is nearer 11:00 am, keep the extra time as a travel buffer.

Your GP appointment may be missed if the browser alarm is silenced by a sleeping phone or a closed page, so keep the screen awake and this page running until 10:27 am. Set the volume before the handover becomes busy, then test that you can hear it over conversation, a radio or nearby machinery. Placing the phone beside you, rather than in a coat pocket or another room, also makes the signal harder for background noise to mask.

Because 10:27 am still falls in the morning, decide before leaving whether you intend to sleep again afterwards. Put anything needed for the appointment by the door now, and avoid turning the remaining rest into repeated alarm checks. If sleep will follow your return, leave the room dim and prepare a separate later alarm for the next commitment, rather than changing this one and risking confusion.
