How to use the online alarm clock
Waiting for your magistrates’ court appearance, keep 11:08 am as the moment to stop watching the clock and gather what you need. The alarm gives that waiting a clear end point, while 12:00 pm remains far enough away to avoid treating noon as the deadline. Have your papers, identification and hearing details together before the alert.
While you monitor the appointed time, this alarm can remain in a background tab as you check your case notes or travel information. Browsers sometimes reduce activity on pages that are not visible, so leave sound enabled and return to the alarm page shortly beforehand to confirm it is still running. If the browser session has ended or the phone has gone to sleep, the alert cannot sound; your court appearance therefore needs a separate backup alarm.
With a late-morning court arrival ahead, check the route now rather than assuming the journey will match an earlier estimate. Traffic near a town centre and queues around court security can use more of the morning than expected. Work backwards from the stated arrival time, include walking from the station or car park, and set off with a modest buffer.
Common questions
Will it still be right when the clocks change?
Yes. It reads your device's local clock, so the move between GMT and BST at the end of March and October is picked up automatically, as long as the computer's date, time and time zone are set correctly.
Can I use this on a phone?
It works in a mobile browser, but phones lock the screen and suspend background tabs far more readily than a laptop does, which can stop the alarm sounding. For anything important, a desktop or a plugged-in laptop is the steadier option.
Does the alarm still work if I close the tab?
No. Everything runs inside this page, so closing the tab — or quitting the browser altogether — ends the countdown there and then. Leaving it open in the background is all it asks, and switching to another tab makes no difference.
What happens if my laptop goes to sleep before 11:08 am?
The tab sleeps along with it and the alarm will not sound on time, if at all. If you are relying on it, change the power settings so the machine stays awake, or keep a phone alarm running as well.
